Gardening is great hobby for parents and kids. Not only do I garden with my own two children, (aged 5 and 7), I also get visits from the neighbor kids who are fascinated with our back yard. Especially since we ripped the lawn out. And completely covered it in raised beds. Nothing "normal" about our yard!
In this era of "landscaping" and weekly "mowers and blowers" (especially here in California), it's almost a lost art to plant your own garden. Which is why I love planting the seed (punny!) in our children.
I have also spear headed the school garden project at a local elementary. Much of my posting here will revolve around my experiences with leading and managing groups of elementary children in a school garden. Some things we didn't didn't turn out as we expected - and others were surprising!
Stay tuned for seasonal advice on gardening with kids.
